Bushwick’s film festival has a Grand Street weekend
The festival closes Sunday. Choose the screening before the group chat chooses dinner.
The Bushwick Film Festival is in its final weekend, and Williamsburg has a front door to it. The 19th edition runs Oct. 7 to 11, with Williamsburg Cinemas serving as its central screening home from Oct. 8 to 11. That puts Saturday and Sunday’s cinema planning at 217 Grand St., subject to the venue listed for your chosen event.

Start with the festival’s official ticket page and select Oct. 10 or 11 in the schedule. Its filters let you browse by genre, program and tags. Open the individual listing before booking: the title, start time, location and ticket terms matter more than the appealing idea of going to a festival in general.
One screening is a perfectly respectable plan. Pick the film or program first, then see whether the group wants another. For a short film program, think of the whole block as the appointment. Avoid building the afternoon around a single title inside it until you have checked how the program is organized.
The festival lists a $150 weekend pass covering Saturday and Sunday screenings and the awards ceremony. Passholders still need advance reservations, and admission and priority seating remain subject to availability. A pass is therefore a way to organize several confirmed choices, not a promise that every room will have space.
If you are weighing the pass against individual tickets, build the actual itinerary before comparing costs. Use the prices displayed on each event’s booking page and leave enough time between reservations. Neither the pass description nor an event’s presence in the schedule establishes how many seats remain.
Keep dinner flexible until the screening is booked. Check the running time and whether the listing includes a conversation afterward before committing to a restaurant arrival. Grand Street makes it tempting to stack several plans together; the more useful luxury is a little time to talk about what you just watched.
The neighborhood detail is worth getting right: the festival’s name does not mean every event takes place in Bushwick. Williamsburg Cinemas is the screening hub, while other festival activities have their own locations. Read the address on the booking confirmation, save it and spare the group chat a last minute geography lesson.
