Kent Avenue has a new name for the group chat
Susu’s brings a neighborhood bar proposition to 229 Kent Ave. Here is what is confirmed and what to check before going.
Susu’s is the new bar to know at 229 Kent Ave. in Williamsburg. Eater reported a Sept. 23 opening, and The Infatuation now lists the spot as a bar with food and no reservations. Its own website confirms the Kent Avenue address but still gives the broader timing of fall 2026.

That makes this an opening to check, not a reason to send six people across town on an assumption. Contact the bar before heading over for current service hours. The address is established; a Monday night schedule is not something its sparse website currently settles.
The project comes from brothers Steven Bishop and Michael Bishop Myers, whose background includes Greenpoint’s Pencil Factory, according to Eater and Greenpointers. Local reporting describes cocktails, natural wine and bar food. Eater also reports plans for vinyl DJs on weekends. None of that means there is a DJ booked for the particular night you choose.
The useful question for a new neighborhood bar is not whether it can produce an opening week spectacle. It is whether it fits a repeatable evening: one friend, a manageable journey home and enough flexibility to stay for food if the conversation gets good. Susu’s belongs on that kind of shortlist rather than an elaborate itinerary.
For a first plan, keep the group small and the expectations specific. Ask whether the kitchen is serving, check the current menu and agree on a fallback before leaving. If you are going primarily for natural wine, ask what is being poured that day instead of treating a broad description as a promise of particular bottles.
Kent Avenue also makes it easy to separate a waterfront walk from the bar decision. The photograph here shows nearby Domino Park as neighborhood context, not Susu’s frontage or interior. Give the new room its own visit once its service details line up with your evening.
